Last workshops at the historic venue: July 26, 2025
After 121 years of daily open studios, classes in drawing, painting, sculpture, modeling, and anatomy, and exchanges between novice and established artists and models dedicated to this unique art form, the Académie de la Grande Chaumière has permanently closed the doors of its historic site.
As you know, this venue did more than simply host the greatest artists of its time; it helped shape the history of 20th-century art.
The list is long of artists such as Chagall, Giacometti, Bourdelle, and Léger who came to work, hone their craft, or teach in his studios.
It has been a home to their artistic visions and all their bold endeavors.
He encouraged their constant pursuit of freedom and reinvention.
He drew inspiration for their creations from models from all over the world, all of whom were drawn to his unique atmosphere.
But the adventure doesn't end there!
The Académie de la Grande Chaumière is now hosting all its activities at a temporary location (2 rue Jules Chaplain, 6th arrondissement) and is currently searching for a new home...
Here are a few photos from our last day at the historic venue, where many people took part in the two duo workshops and the closing reception.
Thank you all for your support and your enthusiastic participation; for your loyalty and the affection you have shown for our Académie de la Grande Chaumière!
See you soon at our workshops!
