Annual workshop to explore the basics of drawing

Biography:
Trained at the Toulouse School of Fine Arts and a graduate of the École Olivier de Serres, the École Estienne, and Panthéon-Sorbonne University, Lucy is an artist, a scientific illustrator, and a professor of drawing and applied arts at various institutions of higher education.
A finalist for the Pierre David-Weill Drawing Prize in 2023, she regularly creates illustrations for the Gallery of Paleontology and Comparative Anatomy at the National Museum of Natural History and for neurological research on dreams conducted in the Sleep Disorders Department at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital.

This course offers a comprehensive and progressive approach to drawing, designed to help you learn to observe and develop true graphic fluency. It is the perfect course for beginners or those looking to improve their skills in a structured workshop setting that fosters both personal expression and the study of academic drawing.

Participants will learn the essential basics of drawing: values, the study of light and shadow, composition, proportion, and perspective…
The work will also focus on rendering materials and textures: transparency, reflections, textured surfaces, bas-reliefs…
Throughout the year, we will explore and experiment with various techniques for working in black and white or color: graphite, black chalk, red chalk, colored pencils, ballpoint pen, fountain pen, ink wash, watercolor, and gouache.

Through a variety of still-life studies, everyone will be able to refine their observational skills and improve their precision, while developing their artistic expression and enjoying the process of drawing.

List of materials (to be updated throughout the year):
• 180 g/m² drawing paper
• A4 sketchbook
   • 250 g/m² A3 mixed-media paper
