Don't miss this special lecture on Rembrandt at the Grande Chaumière!
Thursday, April 11, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.: A drawing class and lecture: Rembrandt, Draughtsman and Engraver
A lecture by Jacques Roland, a specialist in Rembrandt, featuring a presentation of documents. Drawing on his drawings and engravings, we aim to highlight his approach to study and his working methods. Rembrandt was first and foremost a free spirit, and we will demonstrate how this freedom is reflected in his line work and the way he constructed his studies. He was an explorer who continually refined his engraving and painting techniques. All his explorations had a single goal: to convey and capture the emotions of the people, animals, scenes, or landscapes he depicted. He was particularly attentive to the perception and representation of volume, and we will examine how this is reflected in his work.
I also took Laurent Cattanéo's weekly drawing class.
