WHAT LIES AHEAD FOR THE GRANDE CHAUMIÈRE ACADEMY?
Public Information Meeting: Tuesday, June 16, 2026 // 6:30 p.m.
We invite you to a public information meeting on the future of the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, the birthplace of the École de Paris and a haven for the artistic community, founded by two artists who sought creative freedom for all: Martha Stettler and Alice Dannenberg.
The Académie de la Grande Chaumière is:
- 122 years in business
- approximately 8,000 participants annually in its open workshops and classes
- about 100 live models participating each year
- the opportunity to come and practice one's art every day without a reservation
- a close-knit community of artists and models...
This public meeting will provide an opportunity to look back on its recent history, to present the evolution of its activities, and toinitiate a collective discussion on finding a location that will ensure its long-term future.
It needs the support of everyone who wants to see this unique project—and the creative spirit it has embodied for over a century—continue.
