The Grande Chaumière is not closing down!!
With all sorts of wild rumors circulating about the future of the Atelier de la Grande Chaumière, we felt it necessary to issue the following statement:

Following the death in 2017 of the previous owner of the property located at 14 Rue de la Grande Chaumière, the property was sold last October to a private individual.

These facilities house two operations under one parent company:

the Grand Atelier, with its life drawing and painting workshops and classes;

The Académie Charpentier, our school of interior architecture, design, and art direction.

We have held a commercial lease since 1954, which has been systematically renewed ever since.

The current lease expires in July 2021 and, as before, will be renewed.

The current owner, whom I met, will carry out major renovations, and we will proceed with some refurbishment work that the site requires.

We are therefore looking forward to many more years together!
