Exhibition: "Gabriele Münter: Painting Without Pretense"

From April 4 to August 24, 2025, the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris will present the first retrospective in France dedicated to the German artist Gabriele Münter.

The exhibition offers a fascinating glimpse into the colorful and expressive world of this leading figure of the German avant-garde. A painter and founding member of the Der Blaue Reiter group, Münter developed a distinctive style that blends simplified figuration with intense color.

Her time at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris in the early 20th century proved pivotal: there she discovered a degree of artistic freedom that was rare for a woman at the time, far removed from the rigid conventions of traditional academic instruction. This Parisian experience had a lasting impact on her approach to painting, fostering a sensibility open to formal experimentation, which the exhibition brilliantly highlights.
