"Matisse and Marguerite" Exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art

From April 4 to August 24, 2025, the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris will present a new exhibition of works by Henri Matisse.

The exhibition "Matisse and Marguerite" highlights the artistic and intimate relationship between Henri Matisse and his daughter, Marguerite, who served as his muse, confidante, and privileged witness to the evolution of his work. Through a selection of drawings, letters, photographs, and paintings, the exhibition reveals a rare bond and mutual inspiration.

The exhibition also explores Matisse’s formative years, particularly his time at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, a free-spirited and innovative institution that broke with traditional academicism. This environment helped shape the freedom of style and expression that would define his entire career.
