Exhibition: "Pierre de Belay: A Whirlwind of Color"

The Quimper Museum of Fine Arts opens its doors from May 31 to September 30, featuring an exhibition on the dazzling world of Pierre de Belay, Quimper’s child prodigy!

Born in 1890 in the city’s picturesque alleyways, he quickly became one of the most talented painters of his generation.

This unique exhibition, dedicated to this iconic artist, highlights the richness of the city where he was born. Through his colorful works, imbued with a zest for life, you will discover a world where reality and imagination blend together with subtlety.

Pierre de Belay was also deeply immersed in the Montparnasse neighborhood from a very young age, and was part of the major artistic movements of his time, while maintaining his own distinctive realistic style. From easel paintings to grand decorative works, such as the one at the Hôtel Kermoor in Bénodet, his talent has always shone through.

Thanks to his love for the neighborhood, we were honored to have such an artist visit us.

In fact, he studied at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and produced several drawings, notably of female nudes, reflecting his attachment to this iconic institution of Parisian art.
